It's Not Over "It's Now Over" is... OVER !

my It's Not Over label comes to an end with the 7th and final release...

ITSNOTOVER007 is a double cd entitled "It's Now Over" and features the lead tracks from the 12's plus edits, remixes and alternate versions.
it also includes 3 brand new unreleased tracks...

Phonica Records (London) had this to say about it...

"Spencer Parker's It's Not Over project, a series of vinyl releases leaked out over an 18 month period, comes to an end with 'It's Now Over' in January 2014 - a compilation of some of the project's highlights along with a selection of unreleased dubs/edits/versions.
Born out of the desire to play with a name, imagery and deliver something outside of the norm of standard record label releases, the British-born Berliner and Panorama Bar regular kicked of the anonymous 'It's Not Over' In 2011 with the ultimately highly sought after 'Late At Night'.

Since then, the series has grown into a must- check set of 6 12"s that have seen support from the likes of Mike Huckaby, Ryan Elliott, Radio Slave, Patrice Scott and October. Here, on It's Now Over, we're treated to a 9 track selection of the 6 12"s (so completists will need to seek out the vinyl to satisfy themselves) Parker has released, from the original driving melodies of 'Late At Night' via the unmistakable vocal sampling banger of 'Brotherhood' to the more abrasive sounds of 'The Institute' and 'Collective Consciousness'.
On disc two of the CD set we get Parker's own set of Its Not Over weaponry - new cuts like 'Instant Heart Attack' and '3000E' as well as a 'Drone Pass' of 'Collective Consciousness', a 'Brotherhood' Instrumental and a beatless version of the beautiful 'East Pointe' all provide extra weight on the already heavy project. While intended as a compilation and a closer to a vinyl project, 'It's Now Over' ends up being a lot more and not just because of its additional exclusive content.

It's a release which shows us Spencer Parker with the gloves off, making tracks clearly close to his heart and even closer to himself as a DJ and the result is a fantastic second LP from the DJ/Producer."

And the next release on my label is...

4Clubbers (UK) review my "It's Now Over" album...

"These days it seems a ‘secret’ project is ever more popular, but ever harder to keep under wraps. In the case of Spencer Parker, you’d actually wonder why there’d be the need, given his austere taste and raw productions, across a clutch of essential labels like Rekids, Tsuba, Buzzin’ Fly and Ovum. But he managed to hoodwink much of his audience by keeping his involvement with the It’s Not Over project firmly under wraps for over two years.
Come 2014, the big reveal comes wrapped in a send-off that encapsulates much of the project, with a fresh clutch of mixes along for the ride. The result is an all-encompassing entry for the uninitiated, and a collector’s piece for its many fans.

It’s hard to pick out highlights or standouts when each track is of such striking quality, but from the outset of CD1, ‘Late At Night’s rough-hewn percs and pared-back melodic twines set the scene for a nine-strong outing of all the 12” releases. The beauty of It’s Not Over’s existence has been Parker’s shackle-free approach, unencumbered by any expectations borne by his name, and right across the disc there are moments of joy in house music in its purest forms. ‘East Pointe’s twinned keys/piano/bass patterns that hypnotise and envelop, ‘Collective Consciousness’ throbbing percussive nucleus and ‘The Institute’s metallic stabs and copper hits, hanging in a haze of glowing white noise. Each track has its own motif, subtle, developing characters or stark statement, none more so than the emblematic ‘Brotherhood’, a staple of Parker’s sets, built as it is on momentous drum layers, bass note and that vocal.

The bonus is the second disc, with exclusive tracks from the It’s Not Over cache, be they new cuts or reworks of the vinyl releases. Here we see different approaches, such as ‘East Pointe’s Beatless emergence, ‘Belle Ville’s UFO Mix, stripped of its vocal, now supplanted by a haunting synth line, and wonderful angle on ‘Brotherhood’, with the Roland Street Instrumental losing the vocal but gaining a lush, looped pair of competing leads. New tracks ‘Industrial Rhythm’, with its comparatively welcoming chords and fizzing low end, and the majestic ‘3000E’s honed arps and plump, throbbing toms prove none of the fire’s been lost over the course of the three years in secret. As an entity, the two discs act as a retrospective of one of house music’s more interesting and aurally rewarding studies of recent years, and more than anything reflect the dancefloor love of an artist clearly at the top of their game."

Source/Cycle Podcast for Cadenza...

i was recently asked to record the source and cycle podcast for Cadenza Records.

one mix is house/techno and the other is a selection of hip-hop from NYC.

Titel Kulturmagazin (DE) Review my "It's Now Over" album...

"Spencer Parker should be a name that creates a Pavlov’s dog effect in any house music fan having given the world some stunning music over the years. Over the last 18 months he has been using the alias It’s Now Over to release a series of twelve inches so good that fights have broken out in record shops when stock was running low.

Luckily from the 27th of January everyone will be able to get their hands on some of these tunes through the release of a double disc collection of some of the finer moments so far. Disc one contains the highlights with tracks such as Late at Night, Grand River and Brotherhood ably demonstrating what all the fuss is about. Disc two meanwhile features remixes, alternative versions and new tracks Instant Heart Attack and 3000E. The bassline on Belle Ville alone should be enough to make you fall in love with this album! If not then maybe you should turn your hearing aid up!"

Le Skeud (FRANCE) review my recent set at Concrete, Paris...

"Parker sends an incredibly powerful techno set. The energy radiated by mixing it releases all the public around him. It is focused, determined. I do not give an inch, no break. The boat begins to fill. I'm fine, just behind the cab protected.

And
Spencer is amazing. He finished his set with some house keys that bring great joy to the crowd. Then he finished and there is a great standing ovation 2 minutes. Great moment of electronic music, great time of fellowship around a man forever linked to this boat. It is my fondest memory of that day."
